Roller plucking machines are particular plucker models that activates by inserting a drill or electric screwdriver into a hole that is directly connected to the roller performing the plucking.
These are models with lower outputs than basket models, but at a favourable price; thus, they are predominantly employed and recommended for a domestic and hobby use.
Usually, these machines are made of stainless steel, in order to guarantee a quicker and easier cleaning; furthermore, they are equipped with sturdy support legs to ensure stability to the entire machine.
At the centre of the machine there is the main component, i.e. the roller with rubber picker sticks. This is the section which perform the actual plucking process and obtains the driving force from the connected drill or electric screwdriver.
The preparing stages are the same as those of the other plucking machines models, thus always comprising the stunning, the exhanguination, the soaking and the evisceration of the animal.
The drill activates the rotation of the central roller, on which the chicken must be manually placed, so it is rubbed from the natural rubber picker sticks that pluck the plumage.
While the machine is running, the main security suggestions are to hold the chicken firmly as the action of the roller may push it upwards and to check that most of the plumage comes off correctly.
Specifically with the older animals, it could happen that the plumage is more tenacious. In this case, avoid to continue using the plucker machine and remove the plumage by hand, in order to not damage the meat of the animal.
