The Special 398 M tractor offers two different cutting systems:

1- SIDE DISCHARGE (standard): the most traditional, the tractor cuts leaving the grass on the lawn. System recommended for: large extensions for those who do not need to collect, for those who do not cut frequently and find themselves having to cut excessively grown grass, for which the collection or mulching system is no longer effective.

2- MULCHING (optional): a cutting system that shreds the cut grass leaving it on the lawn, pulverizing it to the point that it will almost seem as if it has been collected. This eliminates the problem of its disposal (reducing effort and drastically shortening the time spent cutting) and furthermore, as it decomposes, it will subsequently transform into a nutrient for the lawn itself and into water (grass is made up of 80% water) thus ensuring a perfectly balanced biological cycle. However, it is useful to remember that, to ensure the absolute efficiency of the system, the lawn must still be irrigated, and the grass cut very often. The conversion from one system to another is very easy.

Conversion: just apply the appropriate plug to the grass outlet under the deflector to activate the mulching cut.

The tractor's cutting deck features two steel blades, for a width of 98 cm. The blade rotation is asynchronous, for a clean and precise grass cut.

The deck is floating, meaning it adapts to ground imperfections, as long as they are not excessive, for an impeccable cut on any occasion.

The blade engagement is electromagnetic, and is activated via the button on the control block. This system allows for quicker and more immediate blade engagement.

There are 7 different cutting positions, ranging from 25 to 80 mm. The adjustment is made via a side lever, located near the tractor seat.

The cutting deck also features a wash connector: a small hole where you can attach the water hose, for quick cleaning of the blades and cutting deck. Additionally, two small anti-scalp wheels are applied, for better ground adherence.

The lawn tractor is equipped with a selector that allows setting between:

• forward motion with 5 different speeds
• neutral (N)
• reverse motion (R)
