One of the most widespread and effective methods to permanently eliminate weeds and pests is flame weeding: a special technique to control and eliminate weeds, mosses and fungi through the use of fire.
This procedure consists of burning the plant in such a way as to permanently damage its cell structure and prevent its regrowth.
In fact, the plant changes colour immediately after undergoing the treatment: the green colour intensifies due to the outflow of sap.
After a few days the colour changes again to a faded yellow, and within 2-3 days the plant dries out completely and eventually perishes.
At this point, the withered plant can be easily eradicated, thus also removing the root.
In order to get the most out of these tools, it is necessary to know how long it takes for the heat diffused inside the plant to exert an effective thermal influence on the plant cells.
For younger weeds it is sufficient to expose them to the heat for about one second, but for more mature plants, it is necessary to apply a temperature of just over 100° for the duration of always one second, and repeat the treatment for a second time shortly after the first, if necessary.
As the name suggests, flame weeding does not release harmful substances into the soil or air, making your weed removal operations more environmentally friendly.
This practice is also ideal for controlling plant-damaging fungi and insects, as it avoids the use of fungicides and insecticides.
A further advantage besides the ecological one is the economic one: costs are strictly related to gas consumption, and there are no additional costs for the disposal of toxic residues, as is the case with chemical herbicides.
